TELEHEALTH
Telehealth is the use of video conferencing technology to conduct sessions from the comfort of your home. This service is provided through an easy-to-use, secure encrypted video technology on your desk or laptop computer. Telehealth has been shown through research to be just as effective in treatment outcomes as in-person sessions. For new parents who often find it difficult to leave the house, this is a good option. For individuals or couples with difficult commutes or who simply prefer to do therapy from their home, this offers a solution to an already hectic schedule! The Commonwealth of Virginia Licensing Board for Psychologists has approved delivery of service through Telehealth.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, both mental health professionals and elected officials became acutely aware of not only the high demand for mental health services, but the jurisdictional regulations that often served as an impediment for those seeking therapy. As a remedy, multiple states enacted legislation to join the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT), an interstate compact that allows PSYPACT authorized mental health professionals to provide telehealth services for residents in participating states. Dr. Bell received her PSYPACT authorization as of November 2021, and is now able to provide telehealth sessions upon request for residents in any of the following 27 states:
